Russell Rothberg is a former TV executive ( Fox, NBC, Universal) who made the leap to writing and producing TVshows such as Peacocks' Long Bright River and Paramount+'s The Offer. Born and raised in New York City, Russell lives with his wife, Vera, in Los Angeles.
In Darkness is his first novel.

This was a true thrill ride. I read this book in one sitting, which doesn't happen often. The characters were so likable and relatable. A cool, original story with plenty of twists up until the very end. Highly recommend!

In Russell Rothberg's brilliant book IN DARKNESS, the town of Creeks Manor conjures up destiny's darkest actions! The book has the deadliest of convictions, ruthless outcomes, and addictive twists and turns. The writing is sharp, layered, equally funny and terrifying, while the concept soars toward life and death, violence within humanity, and the deepest blackness in our souls, all played out in a small town of undeserving and deserving victims. Dark thoughts have a plan realized, the novel's caveat of the unleashed secrets in all of us. Rothberg's hypnotic characters fascinate and move the heart, his stunning writing a fevered and deadly touch. I highly recommend!!

A gripping and surprisng journey
This gripping and hard-to-put-down journey about how the touch of a hand and true intentions can change everything brings you into the world of characters who are a macrocosm of us, our best and our worst. Rothberg is a master storyteller, keeping the pages turning with insight and wit, humor and vivid imagery, plot twists, and a surprising finale. While the genre is horror, In Darkness had me surprisingly thinking about the nature of community and what it means to connect with ourselves and others.

Exceptionally creepy and exceptionally good!!!
I'm not one to read a lot of stuff in this genre, but I picked it up off a friend's recommendation and I absolutely couldn't put it down. Totally creepy -- if that's what you're looking for -- but also just an absolute page-turner. Great characters, great story, lots of surprises. Just a super fun, compelling, exhilarating read! Hope this guy keeps writing books like this, because it was awesome and we need more!!

A fast and engrossing read!
This is the kind of story with an addictive hook and mystery that made it hard to put down! Rothberg’s prose was delightful, cozy, funny, and damn scary at times, while the concept of the story inspired some horrifying reflection: what darkness lies in our own hearts, what horrible things would we have unleashed if touched? A definite recommend!
